ECB's Weidmann Criticizes Political Inability To Solve Euro Crisis

(RTTNews) - European Central Bank policymaker Jens Weidmann on Tuesday said that the politicians' attempts to solve the problems in Europe and to erase the crisis symptoms are weakening people's confidence in authorities and in the deals agreed among institutions.

He said that the history of the crisis revealed that there is a lack of political will to implement the fiscal rules. People, not only in Germany, are worried over their currency. "I take these concerns seriously," Weidmann, who is also the chief of the Bundesbank, said in a speech at the Association of Family Business in Cologne.

Reiterating his opposition to the euro bonds, the policymaker said that risks of euro bonds far outweigh their potential benefits.
