BERLIN--German economic growth slowed in 2013 amid uncertainty stemming from the euro-zone crisis, the federal statistics office Destatis said Wednesday.
Germany's price-adjusted gross domestic product expanded 0.4% in 2013 after increasing 0.7% the previous year, Destatis said.
"It appears the crisis in the euro zone put the brakes on the German economy," Destatis president Roderich Egeler said at a press conference, adding that domestic demand wasn't able to fully compensate.
Household consumption in the euro zone's largest economy increased 0.9% in 2013, while government consumption rose 1.1%.
Export growth was 0.6% in 2013, compared with 3.2% the previous year.
